Problem of The Day 2

The area of the region shaded green between the two squares is known to be 24 sq. cm. Each side of the outer square is longer than that of the inner square by 2 cm. If I add the length of one side of the outer square to one side of the inner square, what will I get?

My Answer: 12

I picked 12 because the outer square was 24cm and it asked about the inner square and it was longer by 2 so i divided 2 into 24 and i got 12cm the inner square.
